Robin Nõgisto

Robin Nõgisto, born in 1992, has showcased his work on the local art scene through several group exhibitions after earning a bachelor’s degree from the painting department of the Estonian Academy of Arts in 2017. His solo exhibitions have taken place at Hobusepea Gallery in 2016, Art&Tonic Gallery in 2019 and 2024, and Tallinn Art Hall in 2021. Internationally, Robin Nõgisto has exhibited his works at Miami Art Basel Week in 2022 and in the official cultural program “Olympiade Culturelle” of the Paris Olympic Games in 2024. He was a nominee for the 2018 Akzo Nobel Art Award.

Regarding Nõgisto’s exhibition at the Tallinn Art Hall in 2021, curator Tamara Luuk said: “Robin’s works do not choose their company, they extend dreams and give back sight to the half-blind.”

French art critic Thibault Bissirier describes Robin’s work as follows: “A unique energy runs through all of Nõgisto’s creations. His paintings celebrate a certain lust for life, a desire for defiance, and a critique of ultra-consumption; they express condemnation of the screen society, violence, and the deception of the masses. Nõgisto has the ability to create a somnambulant world of his own, filled with both dreams and nightmares that never let us off the hook.”
